OPAL @ Westfield

At Westfield, we believe that play is essential to children’s health, wellbeing and personal development. We also think that every child has the right to great play in school every single day. In September 2025, we launched the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) initiative to our children. Our outdoor spaces are now in the process of being developed to provide a wider variety of play opportunities. So far, areas we have set up include a mud kitchen; digging area; water play station; music stage and even a soft toy tent! These areas are now available to be accessed by the children during their lunchtime break. We have many more exciting ideas which we are looking forward to launching in the weeks and months ahead.

Our play charter was created through discussions with our Junior Leadership Team (JLT). It encapsulates our school values and what matters the most to our children regarding their play.
